Living in Chaos, and Loving It

What if our lives are stories worth telling?

I believe they are. Yours, mine, hers, theirs; all our lives are stories, and all those stories must be told. Really, you don’t have a choice in the matter. Every day is another line in your story, every action another pen-stroke. By living your story, you are telling it, adding it to the chorus of stories being shouted all around us.

This blog is my story, and I believe it’s one worth telling.

Manic

You see that? That’s insanity bubbling up inside me. That’s the traffic to my site the last few days. Suffice to say, I’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s not like I haven’t been shoving this blog in everyone’s face, though. So perhaps it was to be expected....

I Owe You an Apology

I owe you an apology. In one of my prior posts, Event Horizons, pt. II, I left things… a bit raw. Honestly, I railed. I railed against an old wound that I was picking at, and I railed against, well… I railed against religion.  I should explain myself. In the...

Event Horizons, pt. II

I. Cheryl died in August 2004. I had known her for seven months. We met in Oxford. Well, actually, we probably met in Abilene a day or two before we got on the bus to go to the airport to get on the plane to go to Oxford. We got to know each other in Oxford, though,...

Event Horizons, pt. I

Spiral Out, pt. II

I love names, and titles. Names of people and places, titles of books and movies and music. In fact, I bet one of the fun things about this blog is going to be titling everything. Hell, I might just do a post that’s nothing but some of my favorite titles.  The first...

Spiral Out, pt. I

Why? What is the point of this? This right here, this page, this blog. For what reason does it exist? Does it have a purpose, or a meaning? If so, what is it?  Honestly, I don’t know what it’s purpose is, or if it has meaning. I don’t know if I’m right to be doing...

Going Back

There are about a billion clever things I want to say here, but someone once told me all anyone ever really wants is clarity. So, here it is: I'm going back to Europe. In May, I'll fly from... well, somewhere in the United States to the town of Split in Croatia. For...

Invincible

For the last few days, I’ve been obsessed with this one song. That’s not strange, by the way, me being obsessed with one song for days at a time. But this one feels different.  I love the music (especially the drums), but it’s the lyrics that won’t leave me alone....
